John F. Kennedy: Runnymede Memorial Dedication Book, 1965. Limited edition privately printed for Jacqueline Kennedy containing Queen Elizabeth's dedicatory remarks. Red Moroccan leather, 8" x 10.75," 18 pp, December 1965. On May 14, 1965, At the ceremony, attended by Jacqueline Kennedy, her children, Robert and Edward Kennedy and their families, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth said, "Here at Runnymede 750 years ago Magna Carta was signed. Among the earliest Statutes, it has rightly been regarded as the corner stone of those liberties which later became enshrined in our system of democratic Government under the rule of law. This is a part of the heritage which the people of the United States of America share with us. Therefore it is altogether fitting that this should be the site of Britain's memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy, for, as leader of his great nation, he championed liberty in an age when its very foundations were being threatened on a universal scale." Remarks delivered at the dedication by Former Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, Prime Minister Harold Wilson, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and US Secretary of State Dean Rusk. On the last page of the book are printed these words, Just one hundred copies of this volume were privately printed and bound for Mrs. John F. Kennedy. December, 1965. Truly fine original condition.
